My name is Rodney Shenk.

Born and raised in a Mennonite home, my identical twin brother and I moved with our family from Virginia to Sarasota when we were nine so we could attend the Mennonite school here. Back in Virginia, our Mennonite school only went through fourth grade, so Sarasota became the place where our education—and eventually our lives’ paths—continued. Like so many others in the community, our grandparents also lived here. I still associate orange juice with our Christmas visits to Sarasota, and those memories have stayed with me ever since. Growing up in a Mennonite home taught me the value of hard work, honesty, and community — the same principles that guide how I run this business today.

 

In my 20s, I was a full-time musician. But in 1996, at the age of 30, I asked some friends at a family-run gutter company if they had any odd jobs I could help with. That “one day” turned into a career. By the end of that first shift, they invited me to stay on and train as an installer. I accepted, and before long I was balancing long nights playing music with long days on the jobsite. Within a few years, I was managing the company.

 

From there, I was recruited to leadership roles at two other aluminum companies, managing their gutter and soffit departments. By 2005, I missed the pride and character of a true family-oriented business — where people care deeply about their own workmanship. That’s when I stepped out on my own and founded Shenk Seamless Gutters, starting as a one-man show, installing every gutter myself, which means I know the craft firsthand — not just the business side.

 

Today, we’re still a small, family-run business built on strong values and honest work. My daughter-in-law, Monica, is the voice you’ll hear when you call. She handles scheduling with care and makes sure you’re looked after. My son, Kyl, manages the crews from the shop, overseeing training, coordination, and ensuring each project runs smoothly from start to finish. Longtime friend Anthony, who we call family, supports the crews in the field and helps ensure every installation meets our standards. As for me, I handle your estimates personally — no high-pressure sales, just straightforward solutions for what your home really needs.
